Tonight we will hear from Torben and Lotte Ohlander about their initiative, Ödet, that aims to create an urban community center and green hub in Södra Sofielund, Malmö.
Their vision is to promote social cohesion and environmental sustainability through a space that supports circular economy, sharing services, "repair cafés" and community-driven activities.
Key highlights:
- In 2024, they piloted an incubator program for "circular micro-entrepreneurs" with around 20 participants.
- A co-living space was established with five student residents.
- A cooperative association was formed to support collaboration and funding applications around circular economy initiatives.
- The garage is now used as an extended meeting and event space.
- During 2025, Ödet was a part of the national Vinnova project "The Neighborhood of the Future - the Hyper-Local Heart of the 15-Minute City"
The long-term goal is for Ödet to inspire similar initiatives in Skåne, Sweden, and internationally.
The space is intended as an inclusive, collaborative platform—a "neutral home" where people can explore needs, test ideas, and build together. There's a strong emphasis on keeping it flexible, community-led, and open to global collaborations.
This will be a hybrid meeting held at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Malmö, and virtually on Zoom.
