Tonight's guest speaker is Yi Zhang, a fellow Rotarian based in Stockholm where she serves as a senior consultant in intercultural communication supporting Swedish companies in building effective relationships with Chinese customers, employees, and investors through tailored training and workshops. She is also a valued guest speaker at Rotary clubs, sharing her expertise on China-related issues.
China possesses a unique cultural heritage spanning more than 5,000 years. Yet today, culture itself has become a battleground. The contrast between China and Taiwan reveals how deeply culture and identity can diverge. Another striking example consider Shen Yun Performing Arts, the New York–based dance company who is dedicated to reviving traditional Chinese culture. While millions worldwide have embraced its performances, it remains banned in China and has faced threats and smear campaigns abroad.
Why is authentic Chinese culture suppressed? And where can it truly be found today?
Join us for an engaging conversation on the power of culture through history, and the need to preserve what connects us to the traditions while the world is in huge changes.
This will be a hybrid meeting held at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Malmö, and virtually on Zoom.
