DESCRIPTION:“By the people for the people” is a mantra that has channel
led throughout history as an everlasting commitment to democracy and inclu
sivity. But as of late\, we seem to have lost our footing.   As we hand o
ver to a younger generation largely accustomed to peace\, stability\, and
strong democratic institutions\, we must remind ourselves why compromises
and accommodations are important. Otherwise\, we risk forgetting why democ
racy matters\, while turning toward alternative systems.   One of the maj
or concerns is how the younger generation can stand up to authoritarianism
without understanding its dangerous allure through lived experience? This
is not to say we are destined to relive divisive regimes\, but it is mean
t to emphasise the enduring need to fight for democracy and our shared fut
ure.   We will discuss these major questions with tingiht's guiest speake
r Edward Louis Johnson and hopefully appreciate our individual significan
ce and the role we all play in democracy. As a student and writer\, Edward
has organised people to speak truth and extensively researched democratic
history. He believes in compromises\, listening\, and finding common grou
nd.   This will be a hybrid meeting held at the Radisson Blu Hotel\, Malm
ö\, and virtually on Zoom. To join the Zoom Meeting: https://us02web.zoom
